I realized today that I am working for a fat camp.
B) None of the kids on the camp’s website look very overweight to me.
Not many of the kids are especially hefty, though a few are. They do complain a great deal about exercising, though, and I have to chase them off the tennis courts, where they try to lurk. It definitely explains why the kids are so crabby, though —...

Things I definitely will miss about Thailand:
beca:
- chickens, goats, cats roaming the streets. It’s like living in a farm. I like farms.
The best barnyard sight in developing countries is pregnant goats. They look like they swallowed flying saucers. Is there a more uncomfortable looking pregnant animal?
- lack of big, bulky cars. Everyone piles onto motor bikes — sometimes entire families at a time. We saw a family of four with a...

Another new HP trailer.
I realized today that I am working for a fat camp.
An interview with Ben + Vesper heavy on the Sufjan love.
Wikipedia says the average adult gets only 2-4 colds a year. So there.

Steve Carell Confirms He's Leaving "The Office" →
Here’s hoping The Office gets the mercy kill it deserved by midway through last season.

My brother-in-law helped himself to a sampling of my ice cream cone last week and now I have his cold. Stinky brothers.
It is gray and hot and horrible, and all I want is a movie, watched on the couch, Bonnie at my feet, and a Nutella English muffin.
Instead, I have work, 2-6.
(Incidentally, is catching two summer colds before July 4 really even fair?)

Excuses for not exercising
drshutterbug:
From a patient today: ”My pastor told us when we got married that we were now one flesh, and since my husband exercises a bunch, I figured I was pretty well covered.”

Bowers women: next generation edition. I made the biscuits, Kellie chopped strawberries, and Maddy made the whipped cream. And it was good.

Vesper is one of the prettiest names ever, as I realized after hearing Ben & Vesper perform last night at a house concert.
Unfortunately, I’m told, the name was also recently used in James Bond.
Boo.

The Blythes Are Quoted
I am trying to get through The Blythes Are Quoted these days, mostly out of a sense of obligation. I got my copy in the spring and was quite excited about this last discovered of Montgomery’s Anne chronicles (it was published while we were in Uganda, just after I finished my Anne of Green Gables thesis).
It’s pretty slow-going, though. In addition to the weird proliferation of...

So, apparently the Newfoundland accent sounds a surprising amount like an Irish accent, or so we learned listening to our bishop at the most awesome baptism last night.
When the same night also involves chocolate birthday cake and a little long-eared dog who answers to the name of Basil, you’ve got a good thing going.

recipe: white bean and garlic scapes dip →
I made this for the baptism tonight, and I’m pretty pumped for everyone to try it. It’s insanely easy, and uses stuff I had lying around, while using up the scapes I got in my farm share this week.
Incidentally, thank goodness for the Internet, that can not only tell me what a scape is, but what to do with one.

Currently, on these rainy, cool day, there are three slugs slarming their way up our posts and lintel. I can’t help but suspect this means something in Old Testament terms, but if so, it can’t be anything good.
