Many of these Granny and I hashed out ourselves many moons ago, and J and I have used them as our guiding principles. This one is particularly important to me: 16. Something about the name should indicate gender, if only for official papers like passports. So Carter Elizabeth Jones is preferable to Carter Emerson Jones.
