[This is a quick gush on one of the reasons I love my husband so much. Please skip if you find such things aggravating.]

When I was about 13, I was talking to a friend about how I and another friend could spend all afternoon reading together and that was fun for us. She suggested that quirks like that might be why a certain boy didn’t think of me romantically. I remember being pretty disappointed. But, I love to read! How could a boy I like not share that love?

So, I grew up a little and at 16 met this other boy, the one I eventually married. And imagine my delight when, on a recent night after I’d gone to bed, he emailed me:

I have a weird party idea: a reading & tea party!

People bring books to read (or grab them from our shelf) and we start with tea in the garden, and then have reading (and whiskey?) in the house. People can choose which they want to do.
